We had a very positive experience with Spannenberg and son builders. From their design and complying development through council to the actual renovation was efficient and completed on time. We especially appreciated the organization of the tradesmen as the job progressed. There was no wasted time. Communication from the company was good. We recently completed a kitchen and living room renovation with Spannenberg & Sons, and couldn’t be happier with the result. From the very beginning, Ben’s leadership and early engagement with James during the concept design gave us confidence that our project was in safe hands. Our block is not an easy one — with more than 50 steps up to the living room — but the team handled it with professionalism and care. Sam, our Project Manager, was exceptional throughout. His calm approach and intelligent decision-making meant that even when the occasional unexpected issue arose (as happens in every build), the stress was kept to a minimum. We lived in our home during the renovation and were impressed by how respectful the entire team was. Mitch, Connor, Lockie, and the other trades ensured our home was looked after, cleaning up each day and doing everything possible to minimise dust. The quality of the finish is outstanding. Our new kitchen and living space feel better than we imagined, and we are genuinely grateful to the Spannenberg team for bringing our vision to life. We would not hesitate to engage them again for our next renovation.

When we first started this journey, we were at a crossroads—do we sell up and move, or stay and build up? After weighing up the costs, the disruption of relocating, and the hefty stamp duty and removal costs that come with buying a new home, we decided that a first-floor addition made far more sense. Not only was it significantly more cost-effective, but it gave us the flexibility to create exactly what we needed in the home and location we already loved. We undertook a first-floor extension along with some ground floor modifications, and the result has completely exceeded our expectations. Jake and the team from AB Interiors delivered stunning wardrobes that are both functional and stylish. And thank you to Westglass for the perfect finishing touch with our shower screens. The entire project ran to a tight schedule and was handled with care and precision. I absolutely love my new home and am so grateful to the entire team for making the process smooth, professional and genuinely enjoyable. I can’t recommend Spannenberg and Sons highly enough. Choosing to renovate instead of relocating was the best decision we could have made.

I almost never give reviews, so the fact I am doing so should speak volumes to the positive experience we have had with our renovation. Initially, the standout areas that sent us to Spannenberg was that they design AND build. We have been stung in the past engaging a designer, only to be stuck with an expensive design that was not feasible or possible to build. We knew with Spannenberg that whatever they designed, they had to and could build. The other key area that sold us was Scott. Scott was a friendly and approachable face, for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. That was important for us as we knew we would make changes along the way and we wanted to be comfortable doing so. Which as it turned out we did several times, and each time it was no trouble and in fact welcomed by the team as they too wanted the best result. I am a fairly hard marker, and living in the reno meant that I was able to see every aspect of the build as it was completed. It was a big job, and it would be unrealistic to expect everything to go exactly to plan or be perfect. But Pat and his team were always on the ball to ensure a high standard was set, and Pat always made himself approachable to raise any concerns along the way. Although I am sure I was a nuisance and pain in the butt from time to time, Pat never once made me feel that way. Pat ran the job to the exact day of completion - which I still cannot believe. He loves a good spreadsheet and his analytical approach clearly works. When need Pat jumps on the tools to keep things moving and clearly is a very talented tradesman. The team Spannenberg has shows that they hold their staff to a high standard. High quality work, but with a smile and always approachable. Dan was leading hand on site. Always smiling, incredibly polite, very skilled tradesman. Luke is a young but hard working apprentice, usually smiling but if he isnt its because he is focussed on what he is doing, eager to do a good job. Pete is a rarity - old school hard worker, brick laying skills that should be considered an artform. You cant tell where the old bricks were and the new ones now are. We are actually disappointed the renovation is complete we enjoyed the process and company of the guys on site so much. I cannot recommend the team highly enough.

The team was professional from start to finish. Ben took the time to find the right solution for us to get more living space. They solved a complex seepage problem successfully and also replaced a structural beam neatly to give us more head room in our basement. Then they rebuild our deck from the ground up, larger and added a roof. They have a fantastic work ethic and work to a high quality standard. Blake the project manager worked very hard to bring the project to completion. We went with Spannenberg and Son because we knew they would get everything done correctly. We found them via Hope 103.2 radio.

We are thrilled with our new home thanks to Spannenberg. From start to finish they listened to our needs, provided great advice and recommendations to design and build our expanded new home. We added a first floor, a new deck and new kitchen but it feels like we have a whole brand new home. It wouldn't have been the same without Blake (our project manager) who worked tirelessly with his team and various contractors to ensure old blended with new and everything was done to such a high standard. Not only that but they work FAST! Both neighbours and friends couldn't believe how quickly they progressed the job as we were back living in our home after 5 months. Thanks again to Ben, James and especially Blake who brought our dream home to life - we wouldn't change a thing!

From the moment we discovered Spannenberg on Facebook to their final day at our property putting on the finishing touches, the Spannenberg team have been nothing but professional and amazing. Scotts ability to put our vision into a plan and onto paper, and then Blakes ability to transfer these ideas into house plans at the start of the project gave us so much confidence to commence our renovation with them. We weren’t going outside of the existing footprint, but we needed many walls taken down to create an open plan kitchen/living/dining, new walls put up to create a new bedroom, media room and mud room, replace all the windows and remove weird Grecian pillars from our front porch. Also a special mention to our amazing new skylight and our oversized window with louvres looking into our backyard which they sourced and installed. Once we got started, we could not fault Patricks attention to detail, and his seamless management of the project timeline and his team ensured everything stayed on track. His approachability meant we weren’t afraid to ask questions or for help on the most menial of product selections. The building team of Mark, Ryan and Pete who worked so hard through rain, shine and extreme heat to produce high quality finishes and a completed project, while ensuring it was tidy at the end of each day was so appreciated. The project finished on time barely even going a day off schedule and getting us into our property in time for Xmas. To say we love our new home and layout is an understatement. Our vision for our home came to life and has exceeded our expectations. This is thanks to the amazing work of the Spannenberg team and we could not be happier and would not hesitate to recommend them for any project you are considering.

Ben and his team replaced 28 windows at our house in Gordon. I grossly underestimated the scale of the job. Considering they were touching every room in the house they were neat and tidy, polite and worked tirelessly over the weeks. I would recommend as a key consideration (besides price) is the relationship that you need to have while they work in your home.

We just completed our second renovation project with Spannenberg after they did a brilliant job on the bathroom a few years ago. We were so glad to work with Scott and his team to bring our dreams to life. Our project manager Paddy has great communication and attention to detail. I recently had a renovation completed with new kitchen, butlers pantry, new WC, new main bathroom & new ensuite bathroom, all project managed & layout designed by Spannenberg & Son, with Spannenbergs as the principle trade builder and other sub-contractors completing the work in a professional and timely manner, I'm really impressed by the finish of everything ! This was my first renovation and i was daunted by the process of doing major work on our family home and the cost of it. We had spoken with a few builders about building a 1st floor extension with all of them wanting to sell us a standard floorplan, and then Scott and his team at Spannenberg & Son were recommended to us. From the very first meeting with Scott, he took the time to understand what we wanted and came up with a design to meet that. Patrick did a fantastic job managing the build in awful weather, while Dan, his team, and the other trades, finished the job to an impeccably high standard.
